Questions About Heating Installation
Q: When should I replace my heating system?
A: Deciding when to replace a heating system is difficult as you need to factor in system age, needed repairs, maintenance, current performance, and more. In general, expect home furnaces to last approximately 15 to 20 years; heat pumps about 12 to 15 years; and boilers 15 to 25 years on average. If your system is nearing or within that age range, consider how well you’ve cared for it with maintenance over the years and the severity of any repairs that are needed to determine if you should replace the heating system now or if cost-effective repairs could provide more years of service from your existing furnace, heat pump, or boiler.
Q: How do I select new heating equipment?
A: First, think about if you want to replace your heating system with the same type of unit. Switching to a different type of heating system or different fuel source may provide better efficiency or lower energy costs. Next, work with your ACE technician to determine the right sizing for your new heating system. Then, determine what features you’d like to have, including AFUE or HSPF energy efficiency ratings and various features that create a better user experience.
Q: What is the heating installation process like?
A: First, meet with an ACE representative to determine sizing for your new heating equipment and evaluate available equipment options to decide the best choice for your household. Our team will order your new furnace, heat pump, or boiler if necessary and schedule an installation date. The new system is placed into service on schedule and performance is tested to ensure it functions as expected.
